Day 1: Istanbul – Arrival Day

Arrival in Istanbul and transfer from airport to the hotel. Check in to the hotel.  Overnight stay in Istanbul.


Day 2: Istanbul

Morning visit to a Jewish neighborhood, Galata. You will see the Galata tower built by the Genoese in 1303. Visit the local synagogues, Neve Shalom and the Askenazi Synagogue and Ahrida Synagogue. Jewish Museum is also included……Overnight in Istanbul. (B, L)


Day 3: Istanbul

Depart from hotel for a visit of the Balat neighborhood where you will see the Star of David appearing on building facades. Visit the 15th Ahrida and the Yanbol synagogues. Visit the Jewish home for the elderly along the Golden Horn. After lunch visit the Topkapi Palace, its priceless collection of jewels, and the Grand Covered Bazaar. (B, L)


Day 4: Istanbul

Take a visit to the Egyptian Spice Market, and Bosporus boat tour, viewing the beautiful palaces and the European and Asian shorelines. After lunch drive over the bridge to the Asian side to visit the synagogues in Kuzguncuk and Uskudar. Then take in the panoramic view of the city from the highest hill in Istanbul, Camlica Hill. Day 5: Istanbul / Fly Izmir

Transfer to Istanbul airport for morning departure to Izmir. Transfer to hotel. Visit one of the local synagogues in Izmir, where the Jewish community dates back more than 2000 years. Dinner at an outside restaurant in Izmir. (L, D)


Day 6: Ephesus – Izmir

Drive to Ephesus.  Full day tour to the ancient city of Ephesus, the Celsus Library, the marble paved Arcadian Road, the Brothel, the Roman Baths, the Theater where St. Paul preached, the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World), and see the statue of Ephesian Artemis while touring the Archeological Museum of Ephesus in Selcuk. Shopping opportunity at Ephesus area such as jewelry hand- made Turkish carpets or leather before returning to Izmir. Dinner at the hotel. (B, D)


Day 7: Sardis – Izmir

Morning departure to Sardis, the capital of ancient Lydia. View the significant ruins of the Acropolis. Visit the Temple of Cybele and Diana, which later became a church. See the golden river Pactalos and the Royal Road. Then visit the reconstructed Synagogue, see the names of the rich American Jewish Families who supported the excavations financially. Then visit the Gymnasium and the new excavation area. Return to Izmir for overnight. Dinner at the hotel. (B, L, D)


Day 8: Izmir Airport – Departure to Cappadocia)

Transfer to Izmir airport for departure to Cappadocia (Kayseri or Nevsehir airport). On arrival Transfer to Cappadocia, half day sightseeing and check in to hotel free time and leisure –Optional Turkish night in a cave restaurant with folk dancers. (B)


Day 9: Highlights of Cappadocia tour

After breakfast at the hotel, an impressive day will start with Dervent valley. Than we keep going on with Pasabag “fairy chimneys”, where you can feel the mystic of Fairy Chimneys. We will break at Avanos center of terracotta art. Ceramic dated back to the 3000 BC in the area and survived from to generations a visit to ceramic & tile center to see how the ceramics made by hand. After lunch we visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum to see the best examples of Icons in Cappadocia. Soft rocks OF Cappadocia from the clefts carved out to form stables, churches, monasteries. A visit to the carpet weaving co-operation to see how the Turkish carpet made by hand. We will enjoy the day by taking a look to the Goreme Valley from next to the Uchisar Rock-Castle. We complete the tour with a visit to the Ozkonak under Ground City, dated back to the Hittites than used by the early Christians. Under Ground city specially carved to be used during the war time to save their lives as well as early Christians hide them from the Roman pressure; you can still see stables kitchen living room bedroom and more Overnight stay in Cappadocia.(B,L)


Day 10: Cappadocia to Istanbul

Take flight from Cappadocia destination to Istanbul. End of Jewish heritage tours plus Cappadocia, If required we can add one more night in Istanbul.
